Sliver's Restaurant

My grandmother just turned 75 and for her birthday she wanted to go to Silver's restaurant. I haven't been there since I was younger.  The ambiance is great, when you walk in you know the food is good.  When you look at the menu, there are a lot of things to pick.  I chose the lobster bisque, which was the best soup I ever had.  For my entree, I ordered the lobster roll; it had large chunks of lobster not just not little tiny pieces. For dessert, I ordered the pecan tart.  We all had a blast, I know she had a blast too.

Peach and strawberry crisp

Who doesn't like an old fashioned apple crisp?  Well, I am not using apples in this recipe, instead I am using peaches and strawberries.  What's great is that you can use any fruit for this recipe, and it is nut free and dairy free.

2 cups diced peaches canned or fresh (if using canned, rinse peaches first)
2 cups strawberries sliced
1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
pinch of sea salt
3 Tbsp unsalted butter

1.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees
2.  Put the peaches and strawberries sliced
3.  In a small bowl put the oats, brown sugar, unsalted butter, and salt.  Cut the butter with a fork or pastry cutter or use a fork.
4. Then top the fruit with the crumb mixture
5. Bake it for 25 minutes
6. Top with whipped cream and enjoy!

Whipped Cream
 1 cup heavy cream
2 Tbsp powdered sugar

Whip cream and sugar either by hand or by using a mixer until stiff peaks are formed.

My view of California cuisine

I always love to travel and taste new foods. When I got to California there were many different things to try. The first thing you have to do is go to In & Out Burger. It's the best cheeseburger I ever had with special sauce...OMG.
A great place to have Mexican food is pink tacos. It's my  favorite Mexican restaurant in the entire world.  It isn't like Taco Bell.  It's so much better and the food was so good especially when I tried their queso, which was icredible with onions and peppers.  I could have that everyday on my own.
The last place is a great place to have sweet and savory in one.  A lot of celebrities go there.  It's Roscoe's Fried Chicken and Waffles, one word, AMAZING!  That's how good is.  I ordered fried chicken, mac & cheese, cornbread and grits. It's not in the best area but when you taste the food, you are In for a treat.  There are so many things to decide on, and everything is good.  After all the food is amazing in California.
